The Audio Workshop provides a hands-on approach to learning the basics of recording in a professional studio environment. The workshop is held in Boston's reputable Zippah Recording, a fixture in the industry for almost 20 years. The workshop is designed to help musicians and recording enthusiasts cross over into the professional field of recording. Workshops are headed up by Boston engineer/ producer/ musician Brian Charles. Brian has been working as a professional engineer for two decades, and has produced and engineered records from "indie" to major label releases both locally and internationally.

Workshops are designed to provide a "hands on" approach to learning the art of recording. It is for this reason the enrollment is limited to 6 participants per workshop. Keeping the workshops small provide the intimate setting that we feel is necessary to accomplish an advanced rate of learning in only 4 weeks.
A Workshop consists of 8 evening sessions- two and a half hours each, twice weekly- for a total of four weeks as well as a "lab day" in which each participant gets 4 hours of "one on one" time with the instructors in the studio to concentrate on topics that are specific to that individual.
Zippah Recording has provided internships for local college students for 10+ years, and looks to the workshop as a more organized, comprehensive way to train students in a real world setting. More than a few interns have become professional staff engineers at Zippah. Workshop participants will get first consideration as assistants on sessions booked at Zippah.
We are currently accepting applicants for Workshop 1 (Intro. to Professional Recording), which will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7- 9:30. Please call or email for available class dates and rates. Enrollment is limited to only six students, and is filled on a first- come- first- serve basis. Email: workshops@zippah.com if you are interested in enrolling.
